FUTURITY RULES 2008
Breeder and Open entries in the Futurity, Derby / Maturity, PF Barrel race, and team roping.

1.        Breeder Futurity horses
  •  eligible to compete as a five year old or younger
  •  Off spring by a nominated stallion
  •  May be the nominated stallion
  •  must be registered and match papers to compete

2.        Open Futurity horses 
  •  eligible to compete as a five year old or younger
  •  provide proof of age required with grade horses
  •  entries are screened for eligibility in breeder event.

3.        Breeder Derby / Maturity horses
   •  eligible to compete at any age
   •  by a nominated stallion
   •  the nominated stallion
   •  must be registered
   •  not entered in the futurity event

4.        Open Derby / Maturity horses
   •  eligible to compete at any age in barrel racing
   •  not entered in the futurity event

5.        Performance Fund barrel race horses
   •  eligible to compete at any age
   •  by a nominated stallion
   •  the nominated stallion
   •  must be registered
   •  must have PF Sticker

6.       All horses require a vet check before competition. Check with your veterinary for coggins and travel requirements to South Dakota.

7.       All people 18 years of age or under must have a parental signature signed and notarized to compete.

8.      We reserve the right to be the final determination for discrepancies, complaints, rules, and conduct issues.  

 

 

OTHER RULES 2008

1.       Contestant dress: long sleeve shirt, western hat (optional), and western boots during the scheduled runs.

2.       Barrel race is a timed event, using 55-gallon steel drums. Both ends of the barrels must be enclosed

3.         Rerun will be given to those horses that ran with a barrel offset to marker

4.         Barrel racer will use backup times, if second eye is used

5.         Ties, money will be added together and split evenly for payback

6.         First go draw order designates rack breaks and is reversed for second go
- bottom of ground will receive the top of ground and so forth.  Rack Breaks will not change for the second go

7.         After first run is made in each division, arena setup will stay the same for the division. EXAMPLE: if first runner runs in it will remain the same for everyone in that division

8.        No rubber or plastic barrels or barrel pads used on the barrels

9.       Barrels to be set with center or out side edge of barrel on marker.

10.   Committee shall have the right to stop the barrel race during a division due
to bad ground conditions. Each contestant shall have the option to rerun or
keep her recorded time.  All reruns must occur at this time and decisions are
final.  Run order will not be changed second go

FINES 2008

1.        $50.00
 
•  Unnecessary roughness of horse 
  •  Retuned Check = fines + 4% interest till paid 
  •  Riding in the main arena without permission
  •  Working horse on markers       

2.        $50.00 
  •  Any contestant obstructing or causing congestion in to the arena
  •  Running horse out of drawn order  

3.        $200.00   
  •  Harassment of officials at any time

4.  Disqualification   (all entry fee and winnings forfeited)
  •  Inciting
  •  Stealing
  •  Cheating
  •  Any types of conduct that endanger horses, riders, crowds
  •  Excessive harassment of officials

NO REFUNDS for any reason

Additional RULES: 2008  
* The 18 years of age or under must have parental signature, notarized with the name of the adult to be responsible for the child on file with Bold Heart before competing. Please note if the 18 and under will be showing a stallion in halter or riding events. the responsible adult must accompany the 18 and under at all times when the stallion is not in his stall.  The adult must be present in the show arena when 18 and under is competing. The show bill will be red flagged that the adult is to be present.  
     
* Substitutes will be allowed with Veterinary Certification only and a $20 substitution fee will be charged if not notified within 24 hours of start of futurity.  BREEDERS: If Original entry was for Breeders, a substitute breeder horse or Open horse will be allowed. Above Health Requirements must be met.  Breeder or Open Substitution must meet Eligibility. No Refunds.  
     
* AQHA events: all entries for AQHA will be subject to AQHA Special Event rules.  
  Competitor must have current AQHA membership card and horse papers available for viewing at time of entry.  Copy of card will be accepted. Rules will be posted at office. Please take the time to review them.  
     
     
     

 

 

AMATEUR DIVISION RULES for 2008 (Breeders & Open Futurity) New Changes for 2008

1.        An "Amateur" is defined as anyone who earned less than $1000 in any and all barrel futurities prior to December 1, 2007 for 2008.

2.        Amateur must be a futurity entrant.
  •  must be entered in breeder and/or open futurity
  •  may enter both breeder and open amateur divisions
  •  Open Amateur division and Breeder Amateur divisions are separate - not combined

3.       Designate Amateur Status on the entry form.  Any entry form NOT  
MARKED is considered a "No"

4.       Each amateur entrant pays a $60 amateur entry fee,
in addition to the futurity entry fees.  
$50.00 will go into a separate amateur
division purse.  $10.00 office charge.

5.       The amateur purse will be paid out on each go, and on the two run  
average as follows:     25% 1st go, 25% 2nd go, 50%  Average

Breeder Amateur SADDLE  will be awarded to the fastest average time - must have 12 entries to award a saddle.
                      Buckle if less than 12 entries

Open Amateur BUCKLE will be awarded to the fastest average time

       Distribution of Purse per go and average:
                 1- 20         amateur entries     2 monies  (60-40)
                 21 and up  amateur entries     3 monies  (50-30-20)
